By the time I woke up and gotten ready, my cousin was already back from class for her lunch break. Great timing. It meant that I didn’t have to take the bus to the city. So yeah, it was around noon when she dropped me off at Rundle Mall, just as it started to shower.
And so I began walking up and down the mall in search of a good place for brunch. After checking out two of the food courts there, nothing seemed to have caught my attention. Therefore, I continued walking and ended up at the Adelaide Arcade.
It’s located opposite Cafe Cibo, which was where I wanted to get some coffee (but didn’t
in the end). Headed in and noticed that it’s really similar to the Royal Arcade in Melbourne.
The one on the left’s the Royal Arcade whereas the right one’s the Adelaide Arcade. Rather similar eh? Both lined with specialty shops as well as a handful of cafes. Spent a little time walking up and down the arcade, ventured into Gay Arcade, before finally leaving Rundle Mall.
Wandering around the nearby streets, I stumbled across The Perfect Cup Cafe which is at the corner of Chesser and Grenfell Street. For some reason, to me, it just seemed like the kind of cafe which is good, but doesn’t attract much attention to itself. And so, I decided to give it a go!
After having a quick look at their menu, I ordered a latte and the King’s Breakfast which consists of the stuff you see: Eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, and toast.
It was quite a good brunch before I headed back to Rundle Mall for the last time.
According to my cousin on the first day, this is sorta like the Adelaide Icon. Not officially, but if you see this in any picture, it’s Adelaide. Also until now, she has no idea what the two silver balls are supposed to be or if they’re supposed to be representative of something.
So I left the mall and walked southward, and passed by the Victoria Square, which
is right smack in the middle of Adelaide. It’s just this big square with grass and trees.
And a fountain as well.
As the weather was rather good, I took the opportunity to snap a
few pictures at the square before heading off to my next destination.
Okay I’m outta captions.
This is just a shot of people waiting to get on the free tram! xD Anyways, I left
the square and headed towards the Central Market which was just across the street.
I’d have to say that I like it better than the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne.
Don’t know why. Maybe cause it reminded me of the Taman Tun market. xD
It’s an indoor market with really vibrant colours everywhere you turn. Another
side of the market is the part with other cafes and shops that sell all sorts of stuff.
In search of nice souvenirs to get, I stumbled across another Wendy’s.
Didn’t mention this before but there was another outlet in one of the arcades
along Rundle Mall. Was tempted to try but was just looking for brunch earlier.
And so this time, not wanting the chance to slip pass me again, I tried their World’s Thickest Shake - chocolate. And yes, it was really thick. After only having half the cup, I was bloated. Sadly, I had to let it go while I continued my search for the souvenirs, which I eventually got.

Then, I just happened to pass by a bus stop when a bus stopped there. Turned out it was the Adelaide FREE City Loop Bus. Checked if it goes up to the Botanic Gardens, and it does. So I hopped on and enjoyed the short journey towards the north eastern corner of the city.
Stay tuned for Adelaide: Day 3 (Part 2 of 2)!!
